“Nada se pierde por la paz…Jesús nos trae la paz, y nos deja la paz” (Pío XII). En este décimo cuarto domingo, la iglesia llama nuestra atención a la necesidad e importancia de la paz en nuestro mundo. También, nos recuerda que Cristo es la fuente de nuestra paz.

Uno de los más importantes deseos de la humanidad es, vivir una vida pacífica. Normalmente uno esperaría que, con todos los descubrimientos e invenciones científicas en nuestro mundo, que la humanidad gozara más paz y armonía. Por desgracia, no ha sido así. Esto es porque la paz viene de Dios. Así que, debe ser apreciada, nutrida y conservada.

En la primera lectura de hoy, Dios en su infinita bondad nos ofrece paz: “Ahora, yo haré correr hacia ella la paz como un río.” Si permitamos que esta paz fluya en nuestros corazones y guie nuestras vidas, estaremos satisfechos. Nuestras comunidades y el mundo entero convertirán en un lugar maravilloso. Por lo tanto, estamos llamados a ser mensajeros, agentes e instrumentos de paz. Se debe fluir desde, y a través de nosotros a los demás.

Por desgracia, la mayoría de nosotros hoy en día ha perdido la este sentido de la verdadera paz. Esto es, por asumir que la paz viene de cosas materiales o de las riquezas físicas. Es decir, cuántos carros, casas, cuántas ropas, o incluso la cantidad de dinero que uno tiene en su cuenta. Según Jürgen Moltmann: “La paz es la bendita alegría de una vida exitosa. Es la plenitud de la vida en la presencia del Dios vivo. Es la plenitud de la vida en el amor mutuo de los seres humanos. Es la plenitud de la vida en la comunidad de la creación con todas las otras criaturas.” Hermanos, esta paz solo puede fluir de Jesucristo el príncipe de paz.

En la segunda lectura, Pablo ora por la paz y misericordia para todos los que siguen la voluntad de Dios: “Paz y misericordia a todos los que siguen esta regla, que forman el Israel de Dios.” Esto significa que logramos paz en nuestros corazones, hogares, comunidades, sociedades y mundo, sólo cuando caminamos según la voluntad de Dios. Así que, debemos creer espacio para la paz, para que nuestra alegría sea completa en Jesucristo.

La aclamación del Evangelio de hoy también es una oración de Pablo: “¡Que la paz de Cristo reine en sus corazones!” La ausencia de paz en cualquier corazón, familia, comunidad, sociedad o nación la deja devastada. Paz avanza nuestras comunidades. Cualquier familia y comunidad que acoge y vive en paz, acoge la oportunidad para prosperar tanto espiritual y materialmente.

En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús nos equipa con el mensaje que debemos llevar a nuestro mundo: “Que la paz reine en esta casa.” Es un regalo que debemos ofrecer a nuestro mundo. Jesús sabe muy bien que es algo que nuestro mundo necesita más. Por eso, Él está siempre dispuesto a darnos la paz. Con la paz que Cristo nos ofrece, podemos transformar nuestro mundo de la cultura de guerra, del odio y de indiferencia, a una cultura de paz. Él nos invita a ser instrumentos de su paz y armonía. Lo que debemos llevar a nuestro mundo es la buena noticia de paz de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

Finalmente, paz es preciosa y dorado. Como alegría, paz es contagiosa. Si la tenemos, podemos afectar a los demás positivamente. Por lo tanto, como San Francisco de Asís, oremos al Señor: “Hazme un instrumento de tu paz, donde haya odio, lleve yo tu amor; donde haya injuria, tu perdón; donde haya duda, fe en ti; donde haya desesperación, la esperanza; donde haya tinieblas, la luz; y donde haya tristeza, la alegría.”

“Nothing is lost by peace…Jesus brings us peace and leaves us peace” (Pius XII). On this fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time, the Church draws our attention to the need and importance of peace in our world. She also reminds us that Christ is the source of our peace.

One of humankind’s natural desires is to live a peaceful life. Ordinarily, one would expect humanity to enjoy more peace and harmony with all the scientific discoveries and inventions in our world. Unfortunately, it has not been so. This is because peace comes from God. So, it must be appreciated, nurtured, and preserved.

In the first reading of today, God in his infinite goodness offers us peace: “Now towards her I send overflowing peace like a river.” When we allow this peace to flow into our hearts and guide our lives, we become fulfilled, satisfied, and our communities and the entire world become a wonderful place. Therefore God calls us to be messengers, instruments, and agents of this peace. It must flow from and through us to others.

Unfortunately, most of us today have lost the mark. This is by assuming that peace comes from material or physical wealth, how many cars, houses, clothes, or how much money one has in their account. According to Jürgen Moltmann, “Peace is the blessed joy of a successful life. It is the fullness of life in the presence of the living God. It is the fullness of life in the mutual love of human beings. It is the fullness of life in the community of creation with all other creatures.” This can only flow from Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

In the second reading, Paul prays, “Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule, who form the Israel of God.”  This means that peace comes to our hearts, homes, communities, societies, and world when we work in harmony with the will of God. It comes to all who bear the marks of Christ as Paul did. So, we must make room for peace so that our joy may be complete in Jesus Christ.

Today’s gospel acclamation is a prayer from Paul: “May the peace of Christ reign in your hearts!” The absence of peace in any heart, family, community, society, or nation leaves it devastated. Peace advances our communities. Any community that welcomes peace welcomes an opportunity for both spiritual and material prosperity.

In today’s gospel, Jesus equips us with the message we must bring to our world: “Peace be with this house.” It is a gift we must offer to our world. Jesus knows very well that this is what our world needs most, and he is ever ready to let us have it. With the peace that Christ offers us, we must be prepared to transform our world from a culture of war and hatred to a culture of peace. He invites us to be instruments of his peace. What we must bring to our world is the good news of the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Finally, peace is precious and golden. Like joy, it is contagious. If we have peace, it must affect others positively. Therefore, like Francis of Assisi, let us pray: “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.”

Today, the One, Holy, Apostolic, and Catholic Church celebrates two famous icons of faith. We celebrate the feast of the princes of the apostles and the pillars of the church. What we celebrate today is faithfulness, courage, humility, and missionary zeal. These are the qualities that characterized these two iconic figures.

HOMILIES C – GOD’S WORD FROM MY HEART TO MY LIPS – Ebook

The first reading of this Sunday narrates the story of how God himself mysteriously delivered Peter from prison. This is in line with Jesus’ promise to Peter that: “the kingdom of heaven shall not prevail against you.” Having chosen Peter as the rock, God never abandoned him. Once Peter made a heartfelt confession, the Lord ordained him the chief pastor of His whole Church. Christ also endowed him with authority. Peter remained faithful till his death.

In the second reading, we hear Paul’s testimony, “I have fought the good fight of faith to the end, I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith; all there is to come now, is the crown of righteousness” Of course, he received that crown.

Paul persecuted the church. However, after his encounter with Christ, he became an essential instrument in God’s hand. His greatest weakness automatically became his greatest strength. We learn from Paul that repentance precedes the awareness of our sins, which is a solid incentive to mercy. True repentance, like Peter and Paul’s, restores hope. It helps one to struggle against passions and to grow in virtues.

In today’s gospel, after Peter professed the Lordship of Jesus Christ, Christ, in return, made him the head of the church. It was from this moment that Peter became the first bishop of Rome and Pope. Although Peter was made the first among equals, he remained humble, faithful, and courageously died as others did. So, as we consider and celebrate the outcome of the lives of these two pillars of our faith and church, let us imitate their good examples.

Through their exemplary lives, they teach us that conversion through repentance is a significant Christian step. Through their lives, they also teach us that unless we lay hold of salvation through continuous repentance, we have no hope of it from any other source.

Though it is not easy to achieve all they achieved, let us ask God the same grace which Paul tells us “is sufficient for us” (1 Cor 12:9). This grace will enable us to do our best because we “can do all things through Christ who strengthens us” (Phil 4, 13). May we all attain to this by the grace of the only begotten Son of God, to whom belongs all glory and honor.

Hoy, la una, santa, apostólica y católica iglesia celebra la fiesta de dos importantes íconos de la fe. Celebramos la fiesta de los príncipes del Apóstol y los pilares de la iglesia. Lo que celebramos hoy es la fidelidad, la valentía, la humildad y el celo misionero. Estas son las cualidades que caracterizaron a estas dos figuras icónicas.

HOMILIAS C – PALABRA DE DIOS – Ebook

La primera lectura narra la historia de cómo Dios mismo salvo misteriosamente a Pedro de la cárcel. Esto es en consonancia con la promesa de Jesús a Pedro de que: “El Reino de los cielos no prevalecerá contra ti”. Habiendo elegido a Pedro como la piedra, Dios nunca lo abandonó. Una vez que Pedro hizo una confesión sincera, el Señor le ordenó el pastor principal de toda su iglesia. Cristo también le concedió de autoridad para gobernar su iglesia. Pedro permaneció fiel hasta su muerte.

En la segunda lectura, oímos el testimonio de Pablo: “He terminado la buena pelea de la fe hasta el final, he corrido la carrera hasta el final; He guardado la fe; todo lo que hay que venir ahora, es la corona de la justicia…. ” Por supuesto, recibió esa corona que el justamente mereció.

Pablo persiguió a la iglesia. Sin embargo, después de su encuentro con Cristo, se convirtió en un instrumento importante en la mano de Dios. Su mayor debilidad se convirtió automáticamente en su mayor fuerza. Aprendemos de Pablo que el arrepentimiento es precedido por la conciencia de nuestros pecados, lo cual es un fuerte incentivo para la misericordia. El verdadero arrepentimiento y conversión como del Pedro y Pablo, restablece la esperanza. Ayuda a uno a luchar contra las pasiones, y a crecer en virtudes.

En el Evangelio de hoy, después de profesar el señorío de Jesucristo, Cristo le ordenó a Pedro la cabeza de la iglesia. Fue a partir de este momento que Pedro se convirtió en el primer obispo de Roma y papa. Aunque Pedro fue el primero entre iguales, permaneció humilde, fiel y murió valerosamente como otros apóstoles.

Así que, como consideramos, y celebramos el resultado de las vidas de estos dos pilares de nuestra fe e iglesia, imitemos sus buenos ejemplos. A través de sus vidas ejemplares, nos enseñan que la conversión a través del arrepentimiento es un paso cristiano muy importante.

Aunque, no es fácil lograr todo lo que lograron, pidamos a Dios la misma gracia que Pablo nos dice “es suficiente para nosotros” (1 Co 12, 9). Esto nos permitirá al menos, hacer lo mejor posible porque, “podemos hacer todas las cosas a través de Cristo que nos fortalece” (Flp 4, 13). Que todos logremos esto por la gracia del Hijo unigénito de Dios, a quien pertenece toda gloria y honor. Amen.

The solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), which the Church celebrates today, reminds us all of the beautiful gifts of God to us through Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. While the primary focus of this solemnity is on the spiritual nourishment that Christ gives us, its secondary focus is on the Body of Christ, which is the Church.

The Body and Blood of Christ (the Eucharist) is the most excellent gift ever given to us by Christ. It also shows how much God loves and cares for both our temporal and spiritual welfare. Therefore, what we celebrate today is the sacramental presence of Christ in his Church.

Today, virtually all the readings touched on one issue – giving or offering something. The first reading succinctly tells us that “Abram offered Melchizedek a tithe of everything.” He did not give it to receive something in return. Instead, he did it out of his own free will.

Of course, Melchizedek blessed him and offered thanks to God on his behalf with bread and wine. These were offerings of one’s self in the form of material items. Abram is a specialist in self-donation (cf. Gen 22:1-18).

Today as ever before, Christ offers himself sacramentally to us. This is simply a way of expressing his unconditional love for us. He commands us: “Do this in memory of me!” Hence the church teaches us: “The command of Jesus to repeat his actions and words until he comes does not only ask us to remember Jesus and what he did. It is directed at the liturgical celebration, by the apostles and their successors, of the memorial of Christ (CCC 1341).

So, when we re-live the experience, we truly eat His Body and drink His Blood. Also, at another level, “Do this in memory of me” positions us to be ready to offer ourselves ultimately and for the salvation of others as Christ did for our salvation. So, when we re-live this experience, we are nourished spiritually to offer ourselves too to and for others.

In the gospel, Jesus says to Andrew and his colleagues, “Give them something to eat!” Today also, Christ is asking us to offer something. We, fed with the Body and Blood of Christ, are not being asked to give what we do not have. However, the truth is that although we live in a “highly religious world,” many are yet to receive the Body and Blood of Christ.

So, when we draw them closer to Christ, we bring them to the banquet table of Christ, who feeds and nourishes them with His body and blood. Therefore, we must be hospitable enough to help the weak, the spiritually hungry, and the thirsty to participate in the great feast of the Body and Blood of Christ.

Finally, Christ offers us his body and blood, real food and drink, which is the mystery and core of our faith. In the Holy Eucharist, Christ draws us closer to himself. Christ is present with us in the Holy Eucharist as the head of the Church.

So, today’s celebration provides us an opportunity to thank and adore Christ present in the Most Holy Sacrament. So, let us adore Christ saying, “O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament divine all praises and all thanksgiving be unto you.” Amen.

La solemnidad del cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo (Corpus Christi), que la Iglesia celebra hoy nos recuerda el maravilloso regalo de Dios a nosotros por Jesucristo en el Santísimo Sacramento. Mientras que el foco principal de esta solemnidad es el alimento espiritual que Cristo nos da, su foco secundario está en el cuerpo de Cristo que es la iglesia.

La Eucaristía, es el más excelente regalo que Dios nos ha dado por Cristo. También, se muestra cuánto Dios ama y cuida nuestro bienestar corporal y espiritual. Por lo tanto, celebramos la presencia sacramental de Cristo en su iglesia.

Hoy, prácticamente todas las lecturas tocan un mismo tema – dar u ofrecer algo. La primera lectura nos dice que: “Abram ofreció a Melquisedec un diezmo de todo.” Él no lo dio con la intención de recibir algo en cambio, sino, por su libre y plena voluntad.

Por eso, Melquisedec le bendijo, y con pan y vino le ofreció gracias a Dios a favor de Abram. Estas eran ofrendas de uno mismo en forma de objetos materiales. De hecho, Abram es un especialista en darse a los demás como lo vemos también en Gen 22: 1-18.

Hoy, como siempre, Cristo nos ofrece si mismo sacramentalmente de comer y beber como una manera de expresar su amor incondicional para nosotros. Él nos manda: “¡Hagan esto en conmemoración mía!” Por lo tanto, la Iglesia nos enseña: “El orden de Jesús de repetir sus acciones y palabras hasta que él venga, no sólo nos pide recordar a Jesús y lo que hizo. Está dirigida a la celebración litúrgica por los apóstoles y sus sucesores del memorial de Cristo” (CCC 1341).

Por lo tanto, en cada celebración, revivimos la misma experiencia. Realmente, comemos su cuerpo y bebemos su sangre. También, en otro nivel, “Hagan esto en conmemoración mía,” nos posiciona a estar listos a ofrecernos completamente por la salvación de los demás como Cristo lo hizo para nuestra propia salvación. Por lo tanto, cuando vivimos esta experiencia, estamos alimentados espiritualmente para que podemos ofrecernos también a los demás.

En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús le dijo a Andrés y sus compañeros: “Denles ustedes de comer” Así mismo, Cristo nos pide ofrecer algo. Para nosotros, que hemos sido alimentados con el cuerpo y sangre de Cristo nos pide dar lo que tenemos. Aunque, vivimos en un mundo muy religioso, sin embargo, hay muchos que todavía no han sido alimentado por el cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo.

Si los ayudamos acercarse a Cristo, participaran en la mesa del banquete, donde Cristo los alimentará y nutrirá con su cuerpo y su sangre. Así que, no corresponde a ser lo suficientemente acogedores para ayudar a los débiles, los que están espiritualmente hambrientos y sedientos a poder participar en la gran fiesta del cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo.

Finalmente, hoy lo que Cristo nos ofrece es su verdadero cuerpo y sangre, verdadera comida y verdadera bebida. Esta es el misterio y núcleo de nuestra fe en Cristo. En la Santa Eucaristía, Cristo nos tarea a sí mismo. Cristo está presente con nosotros en la Sagrada Eucaristía como la cabeza de la iglesia.

Así que, la celebración de hoy nos ofrece la oportunidad de agradecer y adorarle a Cristo presente en el Santísimo Sacramento. Por eso, adoremos a Cristo diciendo: “Oh santísimo sacramento, oh divino sacramento, a ti sea todo honor y alabanza. Amen.

The Most Holy Trinity, Our Model of Unity

Today we celebrate one of the greatest mysteries of our Christian faith, the Holy Trinity. This celebration reminds us that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are working together. They are never separated, though, each one of them is a distinct divine person. There is a unity of essence and relation within the three divine persons.

No amount of philosophical debate or scientific research can fully explain it. It is a mystery and can best be appreciated only with the “eyes of faith.” As a dogma, “it is an article of faith revealed by God, which the Magisterium of the Church presents as necessary to be believed…” Hence, Paul’s prayer becomes important today: “May the Lord enlighten the eyes of your minds…” (Eph 1, 18).

In our first reading, Moses reminds us of the beautiful and mysterious nature of the works of God. In order words, it takes a loving and mysterious God to accomplish such a wonderful and mysterious salvation task. Hence, he encourages us to strengthen our faith in God by simply obeying his commandments.

In the second reading, though without offering any systematic teaching on the Holy Trinity, Paul presents the three divine persons in their concrete forms and actions: “Led by the Spirit, we are sons of God…And we are heirs with Christ.” It is the same spirit that proceeds from both the Father and the Son that helps us to call God Abba Father. 

In today’s gospel, Christ himself revealed the mystery of the three divine persons to us. He revealed this with a mandate: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit.” This is the Trinitarian formula.  So, any sincere prayer offered in the name of the Holy Trinity bears a mark of excellence.

Today, the church reminds us that the three divine persons are not divided in their actions of grace. Instead, they work and walk together. They have the same mission, which is the salvation of the world. The Father sent the Son to redeem the world (Jn 1, 1-3). And the Father and the Son sent us the Holy Spirit as our Counselor and Advocate (Act 1, 8. 2). None of them have absolute dominance over a particular period. This is because, despite being three distinct persons, they have one essence. They are eternally one and united.

So, the prayer of Christ to the father: “May they be one, as we are One” (Jn 17:22), is a prayer that arises from Trinitarian love. Therefore, the whole church and each family that forms the universal Church is a sacrament of the Trinity. As such, it must be characterized by love and unity.

Therefore, what we celebrate today is a model for our unity. We have many lessons to learn from the Holy Trinity. The most important is that we can live and work together as one family of God, like the Holy Trinity. This is because we bore the same image of God and were baptized by the same Spirit of God whose mark we bear (Eph 4, 30). So, despite our personalities and differences, unity is possible and a fundamental option.

Hence, today’s celebration has much to teach us about unity in our relationships, friendships, marriages, families, and communities. It also reminds us that despite our different talents, gifts, social, and economic levels, we can live and work together for our salvation and the salvation of the world.

Finally, the Holy Trinity’s celebration reminds us that our different personalities will become our strengths rather than our weakness or the cause of our disintegration if we remain united. For their love and unity, let us praise the Most Holy Trinity: Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Hoy celebramos uno de los mayores misterios de nuestra fe cristiana, la Santísima Trinidad. Esta celebración nos recuerda que el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo están trabajando juntos. Nunca se separan, sin embargo, cada uno de ellos es Una Persona Divina y distinta. Hay unidad de la esencia y de la relación entre las tres personas divinas.

Ninguna cantidad de debate filosófico o investigación científica puede explicarlo completamente. Es un misterio y puede ser apreciado mejor sólo con los “ojos de la fe.” Como un dogma, “es un artículo de fe revelado por Dios, que el Magisterio de la iglesia presenta como necesario para ser creído…” Por lo tanto, la oración de Pablo se vuelve importante hoy: “Que el Señor ilumine los ojos de sus mentes…” (Ef 1, 18).

En nuestra primera lectura, Moisés nos recuerda, de la naturaleza maravillosa y misteriosa de las obras de Dios. En otras palabras, que se necesita un Dios amoroso y misterioso para lograr una tarea maravillosa y misteriosa de la salvación. Por lo tanto, él nos alienta a fortalecer nuestra fe en Dios simplemente obedeciendo sus mandamientos.

En la segunda lectura, aunque sin ofrecer ninguna enseñanza sistemática sobre la Santísima Trinidad, Pablo presenta las tres personas divinas en sus formas y acciones concretas: “Guiados por el Espíritu Santo, somos hijos de Dios… Y somos herederos de Cristo. ” Es el mismo Espíritu que procede tanto del Padre y del Hijo que nos ayuda a llamar a Dios Padre.

En el Evangelio de hoy, Cristo mismo reveló el misterio de las tres personas divinas a nosotros. Él reveló esto con un mandato: “Vayan y hagan discípulos de todas las naciones, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo.” Esta es la fórmula trinitaria. Por lo tanto, cualquier misión y oración sincera realizada en el nombre de la Santísima Trinidad lleva una marca de excelencia.

Hoy, la Iglesia nos recuerda que las tres personas divinas no están divididas en sus acciones de gracia. En cambio, trabajan y caminan juntos. Tienen la misma misión, que es la salvación del mundo. El Padre envió al Hijo para redimir al mundo (Jn 1, 1-3). Y el padre y el Hijo nos enviaron el Espíritu Santo como nuestro Consolador y Defensor (acto 1, 8.2). Ninguno de ellos tiene un dominio absoluto de un período o tiempo determinado. Esto es porque, a pesar de ser tres personas distintas, tienen una esencia. Son eternamente Uno y unidos.

Así que, la oración de Cristo al Padre: “Que sean uno, como somos Uno” (Jn 17:22), es una oración que surge del amor trinitario. Por eso, la Iglesia y cada familia que forma la iglesia universal es el sacramento de la Trinidad, y debe ser caracterizada por amor y unidad.

Por lo tanto, lo que celebramos hoy es un modelo para nuestra unidad. Tenemos mucho que aprender de la Santísima Trinidad. Lo más importante es que, como la Santísima Trinidad, podemos vivir y trabajar juntos como una familia de Dios. También nos recuerda que, a pesar de nuestros distintos talentos, dones, niveles sociales y económicos, podemos vivir y trabajar juntos para la salvación del mundo. Esto es porque, llevamos una misma imagen de Dios, y fuimos bautizados por el mismo Espíritu cuya marca llevamos (Ef 4, 30). Así que, a pesar de nuestras personalidades individuales la unidad es posible y una opción fundamental.

Finalmente, la celebración de la Santísima Trinidad nos recuerda que, si seguimos unidos, nuestras diferentes personalidades se convertirían en nuestra fuerza, en lugar de nuestra debilidad o la causa de nuestra desintegración. Por su amor y unidad, alabemos a la Santísima Trinidad: Gloria al Padre y al Hijo y al Espíritu Santo.  Amén.

Today is Pentecost Sunday. The celebration of our birthdays is always a moment of great joy and feast. We have a great reason to be happy, celebrate, and exchange good wishes because today is the birthday of the Holy Mother Church. Easter is the feast of the light, of the new life that begins with Christ’s resurrection. Pentecost is the celebration of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It marks the beginning of the new covenant and the birth of the public life of the church.

Our first reading relates the events of the coming of the Holy Spirit as a great manifestation of God’s power. The speaking in different tongues understood by all the Jews that came to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of Pentecost was a miracle. It was a clear manifestation of the mission of the universal church. It is a call for the church to be a sign of human unity. This is irrespective of race, color, or language. 

In the second reading, Paul reminds us that, through our “Pentecostal experience” today, an indelible mark has been placed upon us. Hence, God has specially configured us for his mission. This means that it is the Holy Spirit that gives life and directs our mission. Therefore, through today’s outpouring of the Holy Spirit, we are genuinely and fully marked as God’s children. Though adopted, we are full heirs to God’s throne and heritage.

Today’s gospel reminds us of the principal roles of the Holy Spirit. These include: advocating, teaching, and reminding us of the things we ought to know. However, for this to be possible, we must be ready to cooperate with him. He can only advocate for us if we trust him and allow him to be in charge of our case. He can only teach us if we pay attention to his counsel. He can only remind us of the things we ought to know if we humbly and willing say to him all the time: “Help me because I am ignorant. Enlighten the eyes of my mind, O Holy Spirit.”

What then will the Holy Spirit that we have received today help us to accomplish? First, the Holy Spirit we have received today is not a spirit of fear and timidity. Instead, it is the Spirit that empowers us and makes us children of God. This means that we are now bold to call God Abba Father.

God gives us the Holy Spirit that we might bear good fruits that will last (Gal 5:22) and to help and also empower others. It was also given to us to lead us into the kingdom of righteousness, and peace and bring us to the fullness of life. So, as we rejoice at this beautiful gesture that God has extended to us today, let us ask Him for the grace to be docile to the Holy Spirit we have received.

Finally, happy birthday, the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. Happy birthday to all the Faithful of God all over the world. Happy birthday to all my beloved confreres of the Congregation of the Holy Ghost Fathers and Brothers (Spiritans). May the Holy Spirit continue to lead us all: “To the ends of the earth.” Long live the Holy Mother Church!

Hoy es el domingo de Pentecostés. La celebración de nuestros cumpleaños siempre es un momento de gran alegría y fiesta. Tenemos un gran motivo para ser feliz, celebrar e intercambiar buenos deseos porque hoy es el cumpleaños de la Santa Madre Iglesia. La Pascua es la fiesta de la luz, de la nueva vida que comienza con la resurrección de Cristo. Pentecostés es la celebración de los dones del Espíritu Santo. Se Marca el comienzo de la nueva alianza y el nacimiento de la vida pública de la iglesia.

Nuestra primera lectura relata los acontecimientos de la venida del Espíritu Santo como una gran manifestación del poder de Dios. Las diferentes lenguas que fueran comprendidas por todos los judíos que vinieron a Jerusalén para la celebración de la fiesta de Pentecostés era un milagro. Fue una clara manifestación de la misión universal de la Iglesia. Es un llamado a la iglesia a ser signo de unidad humana. Esto es independientemente de raza, color o idioma.

En la segunda lectura, Pablo nos recuerda el hecho de que, en virtud de nuestra “experiencia pentecostal” hoy, se ha colocado una marca imborrable sobre nosotros. Por lo tanto, hemos sido configurados especialmente para la misión de Dios. Esto significa que es el Espíritu Santo que vivifica y dirige nuestra misión. Por lo tanto, a través del Espíritu Santo derramado sobre nosotros hoy, estamos verdadera y completamente marcados como hijos de Dios. Aunque adoptados, somos completamente herederos del trono y patrimonio de Dios nuestro Padre.

El Evangelio de hoy nos recuerda los papeles principales del Espíritu Santo. Estos incluyen: defender, enseñar y recordarnos las cosas que debemos saber. Sin embargo, para que esto sea posible, debemos estar dispuestos a cooperar con Él. Sólo puede abogar por nosotros si confiamos en Él y le permitimos estar a cargo de nuestro caso. Él sólo nos puede enseñar si prestamos atención a sus consejos. Él puede sólo recordarnos las cosas que debemos saber, si humilde y libremente le decimos todo el tiempo: “Ayúdame porque soy ignorante. Ilumina los ojos de mi mente, oh, Santo Espíritu” (Ro 8:15-18).

¿Qué nos va a ayudar a lograr el Espíritu Santo que hemos recibido hoy? En primer lugar, el Espíritu Santo que hemos recibido hoy no es un espíritu de temor o timidez. En cambio, es el espíritu que nos capacita y nos hace hijos de Dios. Esto significa que ahora somos capaces de llamarle a Dios Abba Padre.

El Espíritu Santo fue dado a nosotros hoy para que podamos dar buenos frutos que perdurarán (Gal 5, 22). Fue dado a nosotros para ayudar y también capacitar los demás. También, fue dado a nosotros para llevarnos al Reino de la justicia, paz y para llevarnos a la plenitud de la vida. Por lo tanto, como nos regocijamos en este gesto maravilloso que Dios ha extendido hoy a nosotros, pidámosle a Él, la gracia de ser dóciles al Espíritu Santo que hemos recibido.

Finalmente, feliz cumpleaños, a la, una, santa, católica, y apostólica iglesia. Feliz cumpleaños a todos los fieles de Dios en todo el mundo. Feliz cumpleaños a todos hermanos de los padres del Espíritu Santo (Espirítanos). Que el Espíritu Santo siga conduciéndonos: “Hasta los confines de la tierra.”
