Restored To The Life Of Grace Through Baptism

Today is the 1^st Sunday of ordinary time, year B. It is also the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. This Sunday is like a bridge between two great cities. Officially, it marks the end of Christmas season as well as the beginning of the ordinary time of the year.

Through this feast, the Church reminds us that Jesus was baptized with water and the Holy Spirit in order to bring healing and salvation to all nations. Today’s celebration affords us the opportunity to reflect both on the efficacy of Christ’s baptism as well as on ours.

In today’s first reading from Isaiah, God extends a universal invitation to all of us. It is a special invitation to come to Christ the living water. Christ is the living water in whose name we were baptized. Through his own baptism, He has sanctified our own water of baptism.

Today’s invitation is special because, it is open to all nations, especially, to those who are truly thirsty. It is for those who are truly open to the salvation that God offers through his son Jesus Christ. Hence, it is a call to accept God’s offer of salvation by believing in Jesus Christ, the living water.  

In our second reading, John calls our attention to the importance of believing in Jesus Christ. Most importantly, he highlighted three elements that bear witness to the sonship of Christ: water, blood and spirit. Every day, we are tainted both inwardly and outwardly by sin. In light of this, the water of baptism which Christ brings continues to be efficacious in our lives.

Christ continues to regenerate us through the water of baptism, through his precious blood and through the power of the Holy Spirit. This water and blood include all that is necessary for our salvation. Both, flows from Christ.

Through His water, our souls are washed and purified for eternal life in heaven. Through His blood, we are justified, reconciled, and presented to God as righteous. Through His Spirit, we are made strong for the battle of life. Christ loved the church, and gave himself for us, that he might sanctify and cleanse us with the washing of water in baptism (Eph 5:25-27).

The gospel highlights the core of our celebration today, the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. Christ had to be baptized in order to make a way for us, and in order to purify our water of baptism. This is because, as the first among his brothers (Rom 8, 29), he always takes the lead in order to show us the way. Hence, He came from heaven to earth to show and lead us through the way.

The baptism of Christ therefore is the stepping stone for our own baptism. He healed the water. Thus, giving it the capacity to clean us from Original Sin. Therefore, today’s celebration reminds us of God’s saving help to us. It reminds us that what Adam and Eve destroyed through Original Sin, was restored by Christ through the water of baptism.

At Christ’s baptism, the Spirit of the Father bore witness that he is truly the son of the Father. This is equally what happens to us, not only at baptism, but daily. As we continue to walk with God by fulfilling our baptismal promises, the Holy Spirit, continues to testify: “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.”

Finally, today’s celebration affords us the opportunity to reflect on our Baptism. So, let us renew those promises we made to God in the name of Jesus Christ. Today, let us recommit ourselves to Christ in whose name we were baptized. With joy let us draw living water from Christ, the well of salvation (Is 2, 3).

Restaurado A La Vida De Gracia A Través Del Bautismo

Hoy es el primer domingo del tiempo ordinario, año B. Es también la fiesta del bautismo del Señor. Este domingo es como un puente entre dos grandes ciudades. Oficialmente, marca el final de la temporada de Navidad, así como el comienzo del tiempo ordinario del año.

A través de esta fiesta, la Iglesia nos recuerda que Jesús fue bautizado con agua y el Espíritu Santo para traer sanidad y salvación a todas las naciones. La celebración de hoy nos brinda la oportunidad de reflexionar tanto sobre la eficacia del bautismo de Cristo y nuestra.

En la primera lectura de hoy de Isaías, Dios extiende una invitación universal a todos nosotros. Es una invitación especial para venir a Cristo el agua viva. Cristo, es el agua viva en cuyo nombre fuimos bautizados. A través de su propio bautismo, él ha santificado nuestra propia agua del bautismo.

La invitación de hoy es especial porque, está abierta a todas las naciones, especialmente, a aquellos que están verdaderamente sedientos. Es para aquellos que están verdaderamente abiertos a la salvación que Dios ofrece a través de su hijo Jesucristo. Por lo tanto, es un llamado a aceptar la oferta de salvación de Dios creyendo en Jesucristo, el agua viva.

En nuestra segunda lectura, Juan llama nuestra atención a la importancia de creer en Jesucristo. Lo más importante es que destacó tres elementos que testimonian la filiación de Cristo: el agua, la sangre y el espíritu. Todos los días, estamos contaminados tanto interiormente como exteriormente por el pecado. A la luz de esto, el agua del bautismo que Cristo trae sigue siendo eficaz en nuestras vidas.

Cristo sigue regenerándonos con el agua del bautismo, a través de su preciosa sangre y a través del poder del Espíritu Santo. Esta agua y sangre incluyen todo lo necesario para nuestra salvación. Ambos, fluyen de Cristo.

A través de su agua, nuestras almas son lavadas y purificadas para la vida eterna. A través de su sangre, estamos justificados, reconciliados y presentados a Dios como justos. A través de su espíritu, estamos hechos fuertes para la batalla de la vida. Cristo amó a la iglesia, y se entregó por nosotros, para santificar y limpiarnos con el agua del bautismo (Ef 5:25-27).

El evangelio pone de relieve el núcleo de nuestra celebración de hoy, el bautismo de Jesús por Juan el Bautista. Cristo tuvo que ser bautizado para abrir un camino para nosotros, y para purificar nuestra agua del bautismo. Como el primero entre sus hermanos (Rom 8, 29), siempre toma la iniciativa para mostrarnos el camino. Por lo tanto, vino del cielo a la tierra para mostrarnos y guiarnos por el camino.

El bautismo de Cristo es la base para nuestro propio bautismo. Él Sanó el agua. Así que, dándole la capacidad de limpiarnos del pecado original. La celebración de hoy nos recuerda la salvación que Dios nos ha concedido. Nos recuerda que lo que Adán y Eva destruyeron a través del pecado original, que Cristo lo restauró a través del agua del bautismo.

En el bautismo de Cristo, el espíritu del padre dio testimonio de que él es verdaderamente el hijo del padre. Esto es igualmente lo que sucede a nosotros, no sólo al bautismo, sino diario. Mientras seguimos caminando con Dios cumpliendo nuestras promesas bautismales, el Espíritu Santo sigue testificando: “este es mi hijo amado en quien tengo mi complacencia”.

Finalmente, la celebración de hoy nos brinda la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre nuestro bautismo. Así que, renovemos las promesas que hicimos a Dios en el nombre de Jesucristo. Hoy, volvamos a comprometernos con Cristo en cuyo nombre fuimos bautizados. “Con gozo, saquemos agua viva, de Cristo, el pozo de la salvación” (Is 2, 3).

Living The Example Of The Wise Kings

Today we celebrate the solemnity of Epiphany, and in a most special way, the day of the three kings who brought Jesus very costly and symbolic gifts of gold, Mire, and frankincense. The term Epiphany is of Greek origin, epiphaninen. It is a verb which means “to reveal,” or “to manifest.”

It celebrates the many ways through which Jesus has revealed himself to us and our world. These include the three events that bring to light his mission and divinity: the visitation of the three kings or Magi (Mtt 2, 10-12), the baptism of Jesus (Mk 1, 9-11), and the miracle at Cana (Jh 2, 1-11).

So, today God reveals himself to us because he is good and loving. The light that shines forth upon us today is the light of life through which we must shine. Today, the Lord Jesus Christ further extends and expands the horizon of his love to us by not being selfish. Instead, He allows himself to illumine the darkness of our lives.

The lesson from all of these is that we must also make our lives better and allow our light shine on others. We must shine our light so that others can see with it as Christ illumines our way and life this New Year with his own light and divine presences.

The gospel of today from Matthew is about the visitation of the three wise kings. They came to adore and offer gifts to the new born king, Jesus Christ. This gospel is full of many lessons for us to learn.

First, the three kings came to offer Christ a genuine worship as the King of kings. Therefore, our worship must be sincere and from our hearts like that of the three wise Kings. It must not be like the proposed false worship of King Herod.

Second, we must be ready to offer Jesus something precious. We must not appear before the Lord empty handed. So, we must ask ourselves today, what do I offer the Lord for his goodness to me? The only gift we must offer God for his goodness to us is ourselves. It is the gift of good life, the gift of love, the gift of obedience, the gift of humility, the gift of peace to our families and the gift of sacrifice for one another.

Also, we must learn to be generous to others as the three wise kings were to Jesus. Children, as you expect gifts from your parents today, try to be generous to others too, especially, towards your parents. Parents, let us also be generous towards our children today by giving them gifts as the wise kings gave to Jesus.

Another lesson that we must learn from the wise kings is that we must continue to follow the star and light that Christ shows us. That is, we must not allow ourselves to be deceived or distracted on our journey by the Herods of this world. Trusting that God will not mislead us, we must continue to look out for his star and light along the part of our journey to eternity.

Any time we are confused or come to the cross road of life, we must wait until the star of Christ appears to show us the way we must proceed. This is simply what is referred to as divine guidance in our lives.

Therefore, let us ask God as the church prays: Father, guide us with your light. Help us to recognize Christ in the Eucharist and welcome him with love, for he is Lord forever and ever. Amen!

Viviendo El Ejemplo De Los Reyes Magos

Hoy celebramos la solemnidad de la Epifanía, y de manera muy especial, el día de los reyes magos que trajeron a Jesús regalos costosos y simbólicos de oro, Mirra, y el incienso. El término Epifanía es de griego. Es un verbo que significa “revelar” o “manifestar”.

Celebra las distintas maneras a través la cual Jesús ha revelado a sí mismo a nosotros. Se incluyen los tres eventos que traen a la luz su misión y divinidad: la visita de los tres reyes magos (Mt 2, 10-12), el bautismo de Jesús (Mc 1, 9-11), y el milagro de Caná (Jn 2, 1-11).

Así pues, hoy, Dios revelarse a nosotros, porque Él es bueno y amoroso. La luz que brilla sobre nosotros hoy es la luz de la vida. Por eso, de la misma luz, debemos obtener nuestra propia luz y reflejarla a los demás. Hoy, Jesucristo extiende y expande el horizonte de su amor a nosotros por no ser egoísta. El permite que su luz disparar nuestra oscuridad.

La lección de todo esto es que, tenemos que mejorar nuestra vida y permitir que la bondad fluya a través de nosotros para ayudar a los demás. Debemos brillar nuestra luz para que otros puedan ver con ella, cómo Cristo ilumina nuestro camino y vida en este año nuevo con su propia luz, y divina presencia.

El Evangelio de hoy es sobre la visita de los tres reyes magos. Se fueron a adorar y ofrecer regalos al recién nacido Rey, Jesucristo. Este Evangelio está lleno de muchas lecciones para aprender. En primer lugar, los tres reyes vinieron a Cristo con un auténtico culto como el Rey de reyes. Por lo tanto, nuestra adoración debe ser sincera y de corazón como de los tres reyes magos. No debe ser falso como la falsa propuesta de Herodes.

En segundo lugar, debemos estar dispuestos a ofrecer a Jesús algo precioso. No debemos aparecer ante el Señor con las manos vacías. Por lo tanto, debemos preguntarnos, ¿qué le puedo ofrecer al Señor por todo el bien que me ha hecho? El único regalo que debemos ofrecerle a Dios por su bondad para nosotros es nuestra vida. Es el regalo de la buena vida, de amor, de obediencia, de humildad, de paz a nuestras familias, y el regalo del sacrificio.

Además, hay que aprender a ser generosos con a los demás como los tres reyes magos eran a Jesús. Los niños, que esperan los regalos de sus padres hoy también deben ser generosos a los demás especialmente, hacia sus padres. También, los padres, deben ser generosos a sus hijos hoy, dándolos regalos como los reyes dieron a Jesús.

Otra lección que debemos aprender de los reyes magos es que nosotros debemos seguir la estrella y la luz que Cristo nos muestra. Es decir, no hay que dejar que nadie nos engaña a lo largo de nuestro camino. Confiando en que Dios no nos engañara, debemos seguir buscando su estrella y su luz a lo largo de nuestro camino hacia la eternidad.

En cada momento que estamos confundido o cuando nos llegamos a la encrucijada de la vida, debemos buscar y esperar hasta que la estrella de Cristo aparezca para mostrarnos el mejor camino que debemos seguir. Esto es lo que se puede referir a guía divina. Por lo tanto, debemos pedirle a Dios como la iglesia reza hoy: “Padre, guíanos con su luz. Ayúdanos a reconocer a Cristo en la Eucaristía y recibirlo con amor, porque Él es el Señor eternamente y para siempre.” ¡Amén!

Holy Mary Mother Of God, Accompany And Intercede For Us This Year

Congratulations my dear brethren! Today is a special day for all of us. So, happy New Year, and feast day of Mary, Mother of God. We give thanks to God for today’s celebrations, both of which are great sources of blessings. First, for the gift of a new year. Second, for the gift of a precious mother to accompany, comfort, and to intercede for us throughout this year.

The title “Mother of God” is from the Greek “Theotokos” (God-bearer). Through this celebration, the church reminds us of Mary’s special role in God’s plan. This solemnity can be traced back to the Council of Ephesus in 431. Officially, it was celebrated first in Portugal as Mary’s Divine Maternity. This was with the permission of Pope Benedict IV, in 1575.

In 1931, Pope Pius XI extended the feast to the entire church. Finally, in 1974, Pope Paul VI removed the feast of the Circumcision of Christ from the liturgical calendar on the first day of the year. He replaced it with the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.”

About the important role of Mary in God’s plan and today’s solemnity, the Church teaches: “Mary, the all-holy and ever-virgin Mother of God, is the masterwork of the mission of the Son and the Spirit in the fullness of time. For the first time, in the plan of salvation and because his Spirit had prepared her, the Father found the dwelling place where his Son and his Spirit could dwell among men… (CCC 721).

New Year offers us new opportunities, new ideas, and new resolutions. It is a sign of regeneration and a time of new hope. Each new year, we make new resolutions. Unfortunately, we hardly keep or fulfill them. Why? Possibly, because we are always in a hurry to make them, and consequently, do not consult God about such resolutions.

So, one important thing we must do this year is to resolve to strengthen our relationship with God. Proverbs tells: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans (Pr 16, 3). Also, as the psalmist admonishes us: Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He shall bring it to pass (Ps 37: 5). Therefore, this year we must develop the resilient spirit of Moses who insisted before God: “If you do not personally go with us, we shall not leave this place… (Ex 33, 15). Also, like Enoch let us walk with God (Gen 5, 27).

Our first reading today is a very important new year’s blessing direct from God to us, his people. It is a sign of God’s faithfulness, and His willingness to work with us this year. Hence, through His blessings, God has equipped us for the journey ahead this year. So, all we need say is a resounding amen to this blessing and walk justly with God this year.

In the second reading, Paul recounts the incarnation of God in Mary. That is, how God took flesh in the Blessed Virgin Mary. Paul reminds us of our sonship by participation, and our adoption as children of the same Father with Christ. Consequently, He also reminds us that by the same adoption, we are children of Mary, the Mother of God.

The gospel simply teaches us that Mary fulfilled her role as Mother towards her son. She conceived and nurtured him with love and tenderness. She equally accompanied him through every step and stage of his life even till his death on the cross. In other words, not only did she give birth to Jesus, Mary helped Him to accomplish God’s plan for humanity. Through this, she presents herself as the epitome and model of good motherhood.

So, as we continue our walk with God this year, let us constantly ask for the intercession Mary, Mother of God: Oh, Holy Mother of God, despise not our prayers in our necessities, but deliver us from all dangers, Oh glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

Santa María Madre De Dios, Acompaña e Intercede Por Nosotros Este Año

¡Muchas Felicidades queridos hermanos! Hoy es un día especial para todos nosotros. Así que, feliz año nuevo, y la fiesta de María, madre de Dios. Damos gracias a Dios por las celebraciones de hoy, las cuales son grandes fuentes de bendiciones. Primero, por el regalo de un año nuevo. Segundo, por el don de una preciosa madre para acompañar, consolar e interceder por nosotros a lo largo de este año.

El título “madre de Dios” es del griego “Theotokos” (portador de Dios). A través de esta celebración, la Iglesia nos recuerda el papel especial de María en el plan de Dios. Esta solemnidad puede ser trazado al concilio de Éfeso en 431. Oficialmente, se celebró primero en Portugal como la fiesta de la maternidad divina de María. Esto fue con el permiso del Papa Benedicto IV, en 1575.

En 1931, el Papa Pío XI extendió la fiesta a toda la iglesia. Finalmente, en 1974, el Papa Pablo VI quitó la fiesta de la circuncisión de Cristo del calendario litúrgico el primer día del año. Lo reemplazó con la solemnidad de María, madre de Dios.

Sobre el importante papel de María en el plan de Dios y la solemnidad de hoy, la Iglesia enseña: “María, la Santa y siempre Virgen Madre de Dios, es la obra maestra de la misión del hijo y el espíritu en la plenitud del tiempo. Por primera vez, en el plan de salvación y porque su espíritu la había preparado, el padre encontró el lugar de la morada donde su hijo y su espíritu podían habitar entre los hombres… (CIC 721).

El año nuevo nos ofrece nuevas oportunidades, nuevas ideas y nuevas resoluciones. Es un signo de regeneración y un tiempo de nueva esperanza. Cada año nuevo, hacemos nuevas resoluciones. Lamentablemente, apenas los guardamos o cumplimos. ¿Porqué? Posiblemente, porque siempre tenemos prisa por hacerlas, y consecuentemente, no consultamos a Dios sobre tales resoluciones.

Por lo tanto, una cosa importante que debemos hacer este año es resuelva a fortalecer nuestra relación con Dios. Proverbios dice: “encomiende todas tus obras al Señor, y él establecerá tus planes (Prov 16, 3). También, el salmista nos amonesta: “Comprometa al Señor tus empresas; Confía en él que lo hará bien (Sal 37:5). Por lo tanto, este año debemos desarrollar el espíritu resiliente de Moisés que insistió ante Dios: “Si no nos acompañas, no dejaremos este lugar (Ex 33, 15). También, como Enoc, caminemos con Dios este año (Gen 5, 27).

Nuestra primera lectura es una bendición importante del año nuevo y directa de Dios para nosotros, su pueblo. Es una señal de la fidelidad de Dios, y su voluntad a caminar con nosotros este año. Por lo tanto, a través de sus bendiciones, Dios nos ha preparado para nuestro camino este año. Por lo tanto, todo lo que necesitamos decir es un resonante amén a esta bendición, y caminar justamente con Dios este año.

En la segunda lectura, Pablo relata la encarnación de Dios en María. Es decir, como Dios hacerse carne en la Santísima Virgen María. Pablo nos recuerda nuestra filiación por la participación, y nuestra adopción como hijos del mismo padre con Cristo. En consecuencia, nos recuerda que, por la misma adopción, somos hijos de María, madre de Dios.

El evangelio simplemente nos enseña que María cumplió su papel como madre hacia su hijo. Ella lo concibió y lo nutrió con amor y ternura. Igualmente, lo acompañó a través de cada paso y etapa de su vida, incluso hasta su muerte en la Cruz. En otras palabras, no sólo dio a luz a Jesús, María le ayudó a cumplir el plan de Dios para la humanidad. A través de esto, ella se presenta como el epítome y modelo de la buena maternidad.

Así que, mientras continuamos nuestro caminar con Dios este año, pidamos constantemente la intercesión María, madre de Dios: Oh, Santa Madre de Dios, no desprecie nuestras oraciones en nuestras necesidades, sino líbranos de todos los peligros, oh gloriosa y bendita Virgen. Amén.

The Holy Family of Nazareth: The Christian Model

Today is the first Sunday of Christmas. It is a Sunday dedicated to the Holy Family of Nazareth. That is, the family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. It is the model of every true Christian Family. Sociologically speaking, the family is the nucleus of the human society and the place where life and learning begins.

The importance of today’s celebration both in the life of the church and our society cannot be underestimated. First, it is meant to remind us of the specific and important role of the family as a sacred institution. That is, that the sustenance and subsistence of our society depends on the continuous existence of the family.

Second, this celebration reminds us of the right constitution of a family. That is, the right and naturally accepted union of a father, mother and their children. Hence, any union (like same sex) other than this in the name of family, is an aberration. It is also against God, who in the beginning made them male and female. He did not take the rib of Adam to create another man for Adam to cohabit with. Instead, he took Adam’s ribs and created a biologically and functionally different human being, woman (Gen 1; 2).

The first reading of this Sunday explicitly outlines the three different components of a family: father, mother and children. It equally outlines the position of each member in relation to one another: “The Lord honors the father in his children; a mother’s authority he confirms over her sons.” Each is important and unique in their positions.

Importantly, the Sirac emphasized the role of children towards their parents. This role centers on honor and obedience to one’s parents. Paul re-echoes this: “Children, it is your Christian duty to honor your parents…Respect your father and your mother is the first commandment that has a promise attached to it; so that it may go well with you” (Ep 6, 1-4).

In today’s second reading, Paul reminds us of the Christian virtues that are very important to sustain our families. Each member of the family must strive to acquire them. These include:  compassion, kindness, patience, and forgiveness towards every member of our family. Most importantly, Paul says: “Put on love and let the peace of Christ control your hearts.” 

Most families are not living in peace today. Instead of wearing the garment of love, they wear that of hatred. Paul sums up by reminding us of the role of each member of a family: “Fathers, love your wives and avoid bitterness towards them…Wives, respect your husbands…Children, obey your parents.” These roles are crystal clear.

In addition to the virtues that Paul enumerated above, today’s gospel presents us with very important characteristics of a family. That is prayer and unity of purpose. Together, Mary and Joseph took their son Jesus to the temple to be consecrated. So, they acted and prayed together for the good of their family.

When Herod threatened their baby, they decided together in prayers to flee to Egypt. This is a very important virtue to emulate from them today as we celebrate. This is especially in our world where individualism has done a great harm to our family relations. Prayer and unity sustain and help our families. This is especially, during difficult moments in life. This is true of the saying that “united we stand, divide we fall.” Therefore, let us pray, Jesus, Mary and Joseph: make our hearts like unto yours. Merry Christmas!

La Sagrada Familia de Nazaret: El Modelo Cristiano

Hoy es el primer domingo del tiempo de Navidad. Es un domingo dedicada la Sagrada Familia de Nazaret. Es decir, la familia de Jesús, María y José. Es el modelo de toda familia cristiana. Sociológicamente hablando, la familia es el núcleo de la sociedad humana, y el lugar donde vida y aprendizaje comienzan.

 La importancia de la celebración de hoy tanto en la vida de la iglesia y de la sociedad no puede ser subestimado. Primero, es para recordarnos del importante y papel especifico de la familia como una institución sagrada. Es decir, que el sustento y subsistencia de nuestra sociedad depende en la existencia continua de la familia.

Segunda, esta celebración nos recuerda de la constitución de una familia. Es decir, la justa y naturalmente aceptada unión del padre, madre y sus hijos. Por tanto, cualquiera unión (como mismo sexo) aparte de esto en nombre de la familia, es una aberración. Es también contra Dios que los creó hombre y mujer al principio. Él no tomó la costilla de Adán para crear a otro hombre para cohabitar con él. en cambio, tomó la costilla de Adán y creó un ser humano biológicamente y funcionalmente diferente, mujer (Gen 1 y 2).

La primera lectura de este domingo explícitamente describe los tres diferentes componentes de la familia: el padre, la madre y los niños. Igualmente, subraya la posición de cada miembro en relación con uno al otro: “Dios honra el padre en sus hijos, y afirma la autoridad de la madre sobre los hijos.” Cada uno es importante y único en sus posiciones.

Importante, Sirac enfatizó el papel de los hijos hacia sus padres. Este papel se centra en honor, y obediencia hacia nuestros padres. Pablo lo re-eco: “Hijos es su debe cristiano obedecer a sus padres…Honoran a sus padres y a sus madres. Es el primer mandamiento que lleva una promesa; Para que sean felices y se prolonguen su vida en la tierra” (Ef. 6, 1- 4).

En la segunda lectura, Pablo nos recuerda las virtudes cristianas que son bien importante para sostener nuestras familias. Cada miembro de la familia debe hacer esfuerzos para adquirir las. Estas incluyen: compasión, ternura, bondad, paciencia y el perdón. Más importante, Pablo dice: “Sobre todo esto, vestirse con el amor y dejen que la paz del Cristo controla sus corazones.”

La mayoría de las familias no viven en paz hoy. En lugar de vestirse con el amor, se visten con el odio. Pablo resume recordándonos del papel de cada miembro de la familia: “Padres, aman a sus esposas, y no sean ásperos con ellas…Esposas, respectan a sus esposos…Hijos, obedecen a sus padres… y padres no exasperan a sus hijos.” Estas funciones son bien claras.

Además de las virtudes que Pablo enumeró en la segunda lectura, el Evangelio de hoy nos presenta bien importantes características de la familia. Estas son, oración y unidad en momentos difíciles. Juntos José y María llevaron a Cristo para consagrarlo en el templo. Así que, se actuaron juntos para el bien de su familia.

Cuando Herodes amenazó su bebé, decidieron juntos en oraciones huir a Egipto. Esta es una virtud bien importante emular de la sagrada familia que celebramos hoy. Esto es bien importante en un mundo donde individualismo ha hecho un gran daño a nuestra relación familiar. Oración y unidad sostienen y ayudan nuestras familias. Esto es especialmente, durante momentos difíciles en la vida. Así que, este dicho es cierto y verdad: “unidos vencemos, divididos caemos.” Por tanto, pidámosle a la sagrada familia de Nazaret que nos ayuda como decimos: “Jesús, María y José, hacen nuestros corazones como suyos, Amén!

The Grace Of God Has Appeared – Emanuel

Dear brethren, this is the night for which we have been preparing for the past four weeks. Today, unto us is born the saviour of the world, the prince of peace, the king of kings and the Lord of lords.

The good news is simple, God has fulfilled his promise to his people, God is with us. Most importantly, God has shown us his great mercy and love. With the events of this night, we have seen the great fidelity of God to us, his people.

Our first reading this night of Christmas from the book of the prophet Isaiah, captures and summarizes what we have achieved through the birth of Emmanuel, God with us. The prophet says: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. On those who live in the land of deep shadow, a great light has shone.”

The light of God that shines on us is Christ, the newly born. He is the light of the nations and of all who have accepted him. Never again, shall we walk in darkness. He came to dispel the darkness that darkened our hearts and our world.

Most importantly, with the birth of Christ this night, we have begun a new season of joy, a new season of our salvific history and a new life full of hope, because, God is with us.

As Titus captures it in our second reading, with the birth of Christ today: “The grace of God had appeared, and it has made salvation possible for the whole human race…The glorious appearance of our great God and savior, Jesus Christ.”  Also, this night we live in a new season of the grace of God, which God himself, has fashioned for us.

Finally, our duty in during this time of Christmas is to do what the shepherds and angels did, adoring the child Jesus and singing the glory of the Lord. Therefore, our song today, and forever shall be: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men of good will, who enjoy God’s favors.”

Also, it behooves us to spread the good news to the ends of the world. That today, en Bethlehem, of Nazareth to us is born a great saviour. Rejoice brethren for God has shown us his great mercy.

Queridos hermanos, esta es la noche por la cual hemos sido preparando hace cuatro semanas. Hoy a nosotros se nace el salvador del mundo, el príncipe de la paz, el rey de los reyes y el señor de los señores.

La buena noticia es sencilla, Dios ha cumplido su promesa a su pueblo, Dios está con nosotros. Y más importante, Dios nos ha mostrado una gran misericordia y amor. Con el acontecimiento de esta noche, hemos visto la gran fidelidad de Dios a su nosotros su pueblo.

Nuestra primera lectura de esta noche de Navidad del libro del profeta Isaías, captura y se resume todo lo que hemos logrado por el nacimentero de Emanuel, Dios está con nosotros. El profeta dice: “El pueblo que caminaban en tinieblas vio la luz grande, habitaban tierras de sombras, y una luz les brillo.”

La luz de Dios que brille sobre nosotros es Cristo, el recién nacido. El es la luz de las naciones y de todo que lo han aceptado. Y nunca más camináramos en las tinieblas. El vino para disparar las tinieblas que oscarizó nuestros corazones y a nuestro mundo.

Mas importante, con el nacimiento de Cristo esta noche hemos empezado una nueva etapa de alegría, una nueva etapa de nuestra historia salvífica, un a nueva vida llena de esperanza, porque, Dios esta con nosotros.

Como Tito lo captura en nuestra segunda lectura, con el nacimiento de Cristo hoy: “Ha aparecido la gracia de Dios que trae la salvación para todos los hombres…la aparición gloriosa del grande Dios y Salvador nuestro señor: Jesucristo.” Por eso, también, vivimos en una nueva etapa de la gracia de Dios, por lo que Él ha hecho por nosotros esta noche.

Finalmente, nuestro debe en este tiempo de navidad es hacer lo que los pastores y los ángeles hicieron, alabar al niño Jesús, cantando la gloria del señor. Por eso, nuestro cantico hoy, y en adelante será: “Gloria a Dios en el cielo y en la tierra paz a los hombres que Dios ama.”

También, a nosotros consta, a difundir la buena noticia hasta los confines del mundo que hoy, en belén de Nazaret, nos a nacido un gran salvador. Alégrense hermanos porque Dios, nos ha mostrado su gran misericordia.
