El Bautismo Del Señor

Hoy, celebramos la fiesta del bautismo del Señor. Esta fiesta marca el final definitivo de la temporada navideña y el comienzo del tiempo ordinario. La celebración de hoy nos recuerda la historia del bautismo del Señor. En una manera especial, nos recuerda de la importancia del sacramento del bautismo en nuestras vidas como cristianos.

En la primera lectura de Isaías, Dios presenta a su hijo como el elegido y ungido. Isaías lo dice de esta manera: “Miren a mi siervo, a quien sostengo, a mi elegido, en quien tengo mis complacencias. En él he puesto mi espíritu”. Esta es una profecía Mesíanica

Esta profecía prefigura el bautismo de Cristo, el hijo ungido de Dios. Por supuesto, se cumplió en el evangelio durante el bautismo de Cristo en el nuevo testamento. A través de su bautismo, Cristo fue ungido y preparado para su ministerio terrenal.

Nuestra segunda lectura de los hechos de los apóstoles es parte del discurso de Pedro en la casa de Cornelio, el centurión gentil. Cornelio y su familia creyeron en Cristo y fueron bautizados. Esta lectura destaca la importancia y necesidad del bautismo como un sacramento que hace uno un cristiano y un hijo de Dios.

Además, destaca el hecho de que Dios acepta a cualquiera (judío o gentil), que verdaderamente cree en Cristo. Pedro dice: “Ahora caigo en la cuenta de que Dios no hace distinción de personas, sino que acepta al que lo teme y practica la justicia, sea de la nación que fuere.“

En el Evangelio de hoy, Dios el padre testificó: “Tú eres mi Hijo, el predilecto; en ti me complazco”. En su bautismo, Cristo fue ungido con el Espíritu Santo. Esto lo preparó y le facultó para su misión terrenal de traer sanación y paz a todas las naciones.

Es necesario que Cristo sea bautizado para destacar la importancia del sacramento del bautismo como la fundación de otros sacramentos. Sin embargo, es muy importante notar que la definición del bautismo como: “el Sacramento que limpiar el pecado original”, no sugiere de ninguna manera que Cristo fue afectado por el pecado original. Hebreos nos dice que: “Cristo era como nosotros en todas las cosas, excepto en el pecado” (Heb 4:15).

Por lo tanto, él no fue afectado por el pecado original debido a la caída de Adán y Eva. Según el relato de Mateo, Cristo nos da la razón de su bautismo: “Es apropiado que hagamos esto, que cumplamos toda justicia” (Mt 3, 15). Por lo tanto, por el bautismo de Juan Bautista, Cristo simplemente manifestó su plena humanidad, aún, sin disminuir su divinidad.

En palabras de orden, se identifica completamente con nosotros. Por lo tanto, su bautismo fue un signo de solidaridad con nosotros. Era una señal de que él mismo está listo para hacer cualquiera sacrificio para salvarnos. Es importante que, a través de su bautismo, Cristo inicio el proceso de nuestra redención, que finalmente sellará con su propia sangre en la cruz.

Por último, hoy debemos reflexionar sobre cómo hemos cumplido nuestro propio voto bautismal. ¿Cuán fieles hemos sido a Dios al cumplimiento de este voto? Así que, hoy la Iglesia nos ofrece una nueva oportunidad para renovar nuestro compromiso a Cristo en cuyo nombre fuimos bautizados. Así que, le pidamos a Dios que renueve su espíritu en nosotros.

Oh Lord, Guide Us With Your Star And Your Light

Today we celebrate the solemnity of Epiphany, and in a most special way the day of the three kings who brought Jesus very costly and symbolic gifts of gold, mire, and frankincense. The term Epiphany is of Greek origin, epiphaninen. It is a verb which means “to reveal,” or “to manifest.”

Epiphany celebrates the many ways through which Jesus has revealed himself to us and our world. These include the three events that bring to light his mission and divinity: the visitation of the three kings or Magi (Mt 2, 10-12), the baptism of Jesus (Mk 1, 9-11), and the miracle at Cana (Jn 2, 1-11).

So, today God reveals himself to us because he is good and loving. The light that shines forth upon us today is the light of life from which we ourselves must get our own light and reflect it unto others. Today, Christ further demonstrates the extent of his love by allowing himself to illumine the darkness of our lives.

The lesson in all of these is that we must also make our lives better and allow the goodness that flows from us to help and Illuminate the ways and lives of others. We must shine our light so that others can see with it, as Christ illuminated our way and life this New Year with his own light, life, divine presences and counsel.

Today’s gospel from Matthew is about the visitation of the three wise kings. They came to adore and offer gifts to the new born king, Jesus Christ. This gospel has lots of lessons for us. First, the three kings offered a genuine worship to Christ, the King of kings. So, our worship must be sincere like theirs. It must not be like the false proposal of king Herod.

Second, we must be ready to offer Jesus something. We must not appear before the Lord empty handed. So, we must ask ourselves today, what will I offer the Lord for his goodness to me? The best gift to offer to God is the gift of oneself, the gift of love, the gift of obedience, the gift of humility, the gift of peace, and the gift of sacrifice. Also, we must learn to be generous to others as the three wise kings were to Jesus.

Children, as you expect gifts from your parents today, try to be generous to others too, especially, towards your parents. Parents, let us also be generous towards our children today and always, by giving them gifts as the wise kings gave to Jesus.

Another lesson that we must learn from the wise kings is that, we must continue to follow the star and light that Christ shows us. That is, we must not allow ourselves to be deceived or distracted on our journey by the many Herods of this world.

Trusting that God will not mislead us, we must continue to watch out for the star and light of Christ that will guide us to eternity. Any time we are confused, or come to the cross road of life, we must seek and wait until the star of Christ appears to show us the way we must follow.

This is simply what we may refer to as divine guidance and counsel in our lives. Today, we must ask God as the church prays: Father, guide us with your light. Help us to recognize Christ in the Eucharist, and welcome him with love, for He is Lord forever and ever. Amen!

Oh Señor, Guíanos Con Tu Estrella Y Tu Luz

La Epifanía celebra las muchas maneras a través de las cuales Jesús se ha revelado a nosotros y a nuestro mundo. Estos incluyen los tres acontecimientos que traen a la luz su misión y divinidad: la visitación de los Reyes Magos (Mt 2, 10-12), el bautismo de Jesús (Mc 1, 9-11), y el milagro de la boda en Caná (Jn 2, 1-11).

Así que hoy, Dios se revela a nosotros porque es bueno y amoroso. La luz que brilla sobre nosotros hoy es la luz de la vida, de la cual nosotros mismos debemos obtener nuestra propia luz y para reflejarla a los demás. Hoy, Cristo demuestra la profundidad de su amor al permitiéndose iluminar la oscuridad de nuestras vidas.

La lección en todo esto es que, debemos mejorar nuestras vidas y permitir que la bondad brote y fluye de nosotros para ayudar e iluminar los caminos de los demás. Debemos brillar nuestra luz para que otros puedan ver en ella, como Cristo iluminó nuestro camino y vida este año nuevo con su propia luz, vida, presencias divinas y consejo.

El Evangelio de hoy de Mateo se trata de la visita de los tres Reyes Magos. Vinieron a adorar y a ofrecer regalos al nuevo y recién nacido rey, Jesucristo. Este evangelio está lleno de lecciones para nosotros. Primero, los tres reyes vinieron a ofrecer una adoración sincera al rey de Reyes. Por lo tanto, nuestra adoración debe ser sincera como la de los reyes magos. No debe ser como la falsa propuesta de adoración de Herodes.

Segundo, debemos estar listos para ofrecerle algo a Jesús. No debemos presentarnos ante el Señor con las manos vacías. Por lo tanto, debemos preguntarnos hoy, ¿qué le ofreceré al Señor por su bondad para mí?

El mejor regalo que hay que ofrecerle a Cristo es el regalo de uno mismo, de amor, de obediencia, de humildad, de paz y el regalo de sacrificio. Además, debemos aprender a ser generosos con los demás, como los tres reyes magos hicieron a Jesús.

Los niños, como esperan regalos de sus padres hoy, traten de ser generosos con los demás, especialmente, hacia sus padres. Padres, sean generosos a sus hijos, dándoles regalos como los Reyes Magos le dieron a Jesús.

Otra lección que debemos aprender de los Reyes Magos es que, debemos seguir la estrella y la luz de Cristo. Es decir, no debemos permitirnos ser engañados a lo largo de nuestro viaje por los Herodes de este mundo.

Confiando en que Dios no nos engañará, debemos seguir mirando y siguiendo la estrella y la luz de Cristo que nos guiará en nuestro camino hacia la eternidad. Cada vez que estamos confundidos o llegamos a los caminos cruzados de la vida, debemos buscar y esperar hasta que la estrella de Cristo nos muestra el camino que hay que seguir.

Esto es simplemente lo que podemos referir como guía y consejo divino en nuestras vidas. Hoy, oremos a Dios: Guíanos con tu luz. Ayúdanos a reconocerle a Cristo en la Eucaristía y adorarle con amor, porque Él es el Señor para siempre. Amén.

Let Us Walk And Work With God This Year!

“Mary, the all holy ever virgin Mother of God, is the masterwork of the mission of the Son and the Spirit… For the first time in the plan of salvation…the Father found the dwelling place where his Son and his Spirit could dwell among men… (CCC 721).

Today is the first day of a new year. We give thanks to God for the opportunity of seeing this new year and for his many favors. Today also, we celebrate the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. Both celebrations are sources of great blessings for which we must thank God.

First, today’s solemnity is a celebration of Mary’s motherhood. Importantly, it highlights the role she played in the history of our salvation. The title “Mother of God” is from the Greek “Theotokos.” This solemnity could be traced to the Council of Ephesus (431). 

In 1931, Pope Pius XI extended the feast to the entire church. Finally, in 1974, Pope Paul VI removed the feast of the Circumcision of Christ from the liturgical calendar, and replaced it with the feast of the “Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.”

Hence, our second reading reminds us of how God took flesh in the Blessed Virgin Mary. Most importantly, this reading reminds us of our adoptive sonship. Through adoption, we are children of the same Father with Christ. Also, through adoption, we are children of Mary with Christ. So, as children of the same Mother, we are born of the same spirit.

Today’s gospel reading simply reminds us that Mary played her maternal role towards her son Jesus Christ very well. She was obedient and fulfilled all that she was told to do. Not only did she give birth to Christ, like every good, Mary nurtured Christ well. Hence, she is the epitome and model for all mothers.

New Year offers us new opportunities, ideas, resolutions, plans and a new direction. It is a sign of regeneration and new hope. A young man was asked: “What is your plan this year? He simply replied: “This year, I will not walk alone again. My plan is to walk and work with God. I know he will not let me fail.”

Many times, we make New Year resolutions. Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfill them. Perhaps, we were not meticulous enough to keep them. Perhaps, circumstances were out of our control, and our plan changed. Perhaps, we did not consult God while making our plan. Yes, often times, we make plans and take decisions without consulting God.

This year, let us make God part of our plan: “Commit your work to the Lord, and he will establish your plans (Pr 16, 3). This year, we must develop the resilient spirit of Moses who insisted to God: “If you do not personally go with us, do not make us leave this place… (Ex 33, 15).  Like Enoch (Gen 5, 24), we must learn to walk and work with God in order to achieve our plans. He is ready to walk and work with us.

Hence, our first reading today is a very important blessing. Through this blessing, God has equipped us for the journey ahead this year. Through it, God has demonstrated his willingness to protect and work with us this year. So, all we need is to simply say, Amen!

So, as we move into this year, let us ask the Mother of God, to help us remain focused: “Oh Holy Mary, Mother of God, despise not our prayers in our necessities, but deliver us from all dangers, oh glorious and blessed virgin, Amen. Happy New Year to you all!

Caminemos y Trabajemos Con Dios En Este Año

“María, la Santísima Siempre Virgen Madre de Dios, es la obra maestra de la misión del Hijo y del Espíritu…por primera vez en el plan de salvación…el Padre encontró la morada en la que su hijo y su espíritu puede habitar entre los hombres (CIC 721).

Hoy es el primer día de un año nuevo. Damos gracias a Dios por la oportunidad de ver este nuevo año y por sus muchos favores. Hoy también celebramos la solemnidad de María, madre de Dios. Ambas celebraciones son fuentes de grandes bendiciones para las que debemos agradecerle a Dios.

En primer lugar, la solemnidad de hoy es una celebración de la maternidad de María. Es importante destacar el papel que María jugó en la historia de nuestra salvación. El título “Madre de Dios” proviene del griego “Theotokos”. Esta solemnidad se trazó al Concilio de Éfeso (431).

En 1931, el Papa Pío XI extendió la fiesta a toda la iglesia. Finalmente, en 1974, el Papa Pablo VI quitó la fiesta de la circuncisión de Cristo del calendario litúrgico, y la sustituyó con la fiesta de la “solemnidad de María, Madre de Dios”.

Por lo tanto, nuestra segunda lectura nos recuerda cómo Dios se hizo hombre en María. También, nos recuerda nuestra filiación adoptiva. A través de la adopción, somos hijos del mismo padre con Cristo. También, a través de la adopción, somos hijos de María con Cristo. Así que, como hijos de la misma madre, nacemos del mismo espíritu.

Evangelio de hoy simplemente, nos recuerda que María jugó su papel materno hacia su hijo Jesucristo bien. Ella fue obediente y cumplió todo lo que le ordenaron. No sólo dio a luz a Cristo, sino también que, María creo a Cristo bien. Por lo tanto, ella es el epítome y modelo para todas las madres.

El año nuevo nos ofrece nuevas oportunidades, ideas, resoluciones, planes y una nueva dirección. Es un signo de regeneración y nueva esperanza. Se le preguntaron a un hombre: “¿Cuál es su plan este año? Simplemente contestó: “Este año, nunca caminaré solo. Mi plan es caminar y trabajar con Dios. Sé que, Él no me dejará fallar.

Muchas veces, hacemos resoluciones de año nuevo. Por desgracia, no las cumplimos. Quizás, no fuimos meticulosos a cumplirlas. Quizás, las circunstancias estaban fuera de nuestro control, y nuestro plan cambió. Quizás, no consultamos a Dios antes de hacer nuestro plan. Sí, muchas veces, hacemos planes y tomamos decisiones sin consultar a Dios.

Este año, hagamos de Dios parte de nuestro plan: “Comprometan su trabajo al Señor, y él establecerá sus planes” (Pr 16, 3). Debemos desarrollar el espíritu resiliente de Moisés que insistió a Dios: “Si usted no va personalmente con nosotros, no nos haga salir de este lugar… (Ex 33, 15). Como Enoc (Gen 5, 24), debemos aprender a caminar y a trabajar con Dios para lograr nuestros planes. Él está listo para caminar y trabajar con nosotros.

Por lo tanto, nuestra primera lectura de hoy es una bendición muy importante. A través de esta bendición, Dios nos ha equipado para el viaje de este año. A través de ella, Dios ha demostrado su voluntad de proteger y trabajar con nosotros este año. Por lo tanto, todo lo que necesitamos es simplemente decir: ¡Amén!

Así que, como avanzamos en este año, pidamos a la Madre de Dios, que nos ayude a permanecer enfocados: Oh Santa María, Madre de Dios, no desprecias nuestras oraciones en nuestras necesidades, sino librarnos de todo peligro. Oh gloriosa y bendita Virgen. Amén.

The Holy Family Of Nazareth: The Christian Model

On this the first Sunday of Christmas, the Church celebrates the Holy Family of Nazareth of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. We live in a time when the family institution is under a serious threat. The family, the nucleus of the human society appear to be “an endangered specie.”

Today, the church invites us to emulate the Holy family as our model. So, all the readings of this Sunday are carefully selected instructions for a Christian family, and the duty of each member of the family. This is in order to maintain the sanctity of the family.

The first reading from Sirac calls children to be obedient to their parents: “He who honors his mother is like someone amassing a fortune. Whoever respects his father will be happy with his own children.” So, in a good Christian family, children respect and obey their parents. When they do, a blessing follows them as Paul tells us in Eph 6, 1-2.

In the second reading, Paul outlined the virtues needed in a Christian family: “You should be clothed in sincere compassion, in kindness and in humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with one another; forgive each other as soon as a quarrel begins.” In a Christian family, each member knows his duty and responsibility.

In today’s gospel, Luke narrates how the parents of Jesus played their role in his upbringing. They accompanied him until he was mature to take care of himself. They provided for his material needs. They also made sure that they brought him up in faith by presenting him to God at the appropriate time.

Today’s gospel also reminds us that problems and obstacles are inevitable in a family. However, if the members remain united and courageous, they will definitely overcome any obstacle and challenge that comes to them. When Jesus’ parents thought he was lost, together, they looked for him, and found him. As parents, they played their role well.

Joseph is a role model for all fathers. He protected and provided for both Mary and Jesus. Mary also played her role very well by providing the maternal love that their son needed as he grew up. On his part, Jesus was not disobedient or problematic. He understood the difficulties that faced his family.

In a Christian family, if each member plays his role well, the family grows. If the husband loves and respects his wife and children, he wins their favor. If the mother respects the father, and nurtures her children, the family will be a better place. If children obey and respect their parents, they are blessed.

A Christian family is, a family modeled after the Holy Family of Nazareth. It is a family ordained by God. It is made up of the father, the mother, and Children (when it pleases God). It is a family that stays and prays together. It is a family where children are educated and brought up with love, sincerity, dignity and authenticity.

It is a family where each member is valued and respected. It is a family where difficulties are peacefully and prayerfully resolved through dialogue. The model of every good Christian family is the holy family of Nazareth. So, let us pray: Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Pray for us.

En este primer domingo de la Navidad, la Iglesia celebra la Sagrada Familia de Nazaret de Jesús, María y José. Vivimos en un tiempo en lo que la institución familiar está bajo una grave amenaza. La familia, el núcleo de la sociedad humana ahora parece “una especie en peligro”.

Hoy, la Iglesia nos invita a emular la Sagrada Familia como nuestro modelo. Así que, todas las lecturas de este domingo son instrucciones cuidadosamente seleccionadas para familias cristianas, y el deber de cada miembro de la familia. Esto es para mantener la santidad de la familia.

La primera lectura de Sirac llama a los hijos a ser obedientes a sus padres: “El que honra a su padre queda limpio de pecado; y acumula tesoros, el que respeta a su madre. Quien honra a su padre, encontrará alegría en sus hijos y su oración será escuchada”. Así, en una buena familia cristiana, los niños respetan y obedecen a sus padres. Cuando lo hacen, una bendición los sigue como Pablo nos dice en Ef 6, 1-2.

En la segunda lectura, Pablo subraya las virtudes necesarias en una familia cristiana: “Sean compasivos, magnánimos, humildes, afables y pacientes. Sopórtense mutuamente y perdónense cuando tengan quejas contra otro, como el Señor los ha perdonado a ustedes. Y sobre todas estas virtudes, tengan amor, que es el vínculo de la perfecta unión. En una familia cristiana, cada miembro conoce su deber y responsabilidad.

En el evangelio de hoy, Lucas narra cómo los padres de Jesús cumplieron su papel en su crianza. Lo acompañaron hasta que fue maduro para cuidar de sí mismo. Proveían para sus necesidades materiales. También se lo crearon en la fe, presentándole a Dios en el momento oportuno.

El Evangelio de hoy también nos recuerda que los problemas y los obstáculos son inevitables en una familia. Sin embargo, si los miembros permanecen unidos y valientes, definitivamente superarán cualquier obstáculo y desafío que les llegue. Cuando los padres de Jesús pensaron que estaba perdido, juntos lo buscaron y lo encontraron. Jugaron su papel bien.

José es un modelo a seguir para todos los padres. Él protegía y proveía para María y Jesús. Mary también cumplió su papel muy bien al proveer el amor materno que su hijo necesitaba mientras que crecía. Por su parte, Jesús no fue desobediente, ni problemático. Comprendió las dificultades que enfrentó a su familia.

En una familia cristiana, si cada miembro desempeña su papel bien, la familia crece bien. Si el esposo ama y respeta a su esposa e hijos, gana su favor. Si la madre respeta al padre, y nutre a sus hijos, la familia será un lugar mejor. Si los niños obedecen y respetan a sus padres, serán bendecidos.

Una familia cristiana es una familia modelada según la Sagrada Familia de Nazaret. Es una familia ordenada por Dios. Consiste el padre, la madre y los hijos (cuando agrada a Dios). Es una familia que se queda y reza juntos. Es una familia donde los niños son educados y criados con amor, sinceridad, dignidad y autenticidad.

Es una familia donde cada miembro es valorado y respetado. Es una familia en la que las dificultades se resuelven pacíficamente y con espíritu de oración mediante el diálogo. El modelo de toda buena familia cristiana es la Sagrada Familia de Nazaret. Así que, oremos: “Jesús, María y José, rueguen por nosotros.”

God Is With Us!

“Sing a new song to the Lord, for he has worked wonders for us. He has made known his salvation.” Today is Christmas day, the day we have prepared for. Christmas is a milestone in the history of our salvation. So, it is wonderful to know that “God is with us.”

Today, God has proved the depth of his love for us by allowing his own son to be born of a virgin. The Word of God has finally taken flesh. The central message of today’s celebration is the incarnation and revelation of Jesus Christ.

Our first reading from Isaiah finds its accomplishment in the birth, life and ministry of Jesus. Isaiah proclaims: “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the one who brings Good News.” Indeed, the good news is that, Christ is with us. It is the Good News of love, peace, charity, hope, and salvation.

The prophet calls us to celebrate Emmanuel, God with us. It is a call to adore and worship the new born king, and the prince of peace. It is a call to be joyful. Most importantly, it is a call a to spread the good news about the birth of the Messiah.

In our second reading, the letter to the Hebrews captures, and presents what God did for us today in a most convincing and spectacular manner. God has fulfilled his promise to us. Today, the hidden mystery of the old covenant has finally been revealed through the birth of Christ. Hence, divine revelation has reached its climax.

The gospel of John gives us a summary of what happened today. That is, the divine incarnation of God: “The Word was made flesh, He lived among us, and we saw His glory.” The Word which was with the Father as Spirit, is now with us as human. Without losing His sacred or spiritual nature, he has condescended to become like us.

He did this by taking flesh in a poor, humble and a willing virgin. It takes love to do this. Therefore, what we celebrate today is love because: “God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son… (Jn 3, 16).

Today, we celebrate love. So, we must be ready to extend God’s love this season. Therefore, this is a season we must be ready to offer ourselves positively in love to others. As Christ has reached out to us, we too must be ready to reach out to others.

Today, we celebrate Sacrifice.  So, we must also be ready to sacrifice something for the good of our brothers and sisters as Christ did. Just as He came down from heaven to be with us, and to show us the way, we must leave our comfort zones to reach out to the lowly, suffering and neglected of our society.

Today, we celebrate Humility. So, we must learn to be humble as Christ our mode is. In spite of being the king of the universe, he allowed himself to be born in a manger, without minding the discomforts. Today, we celebrate the reign of peace. Peace not as the world gives, but as God gives it to those who love and believe in him (Jn 14, 21).

Today, we celebrate hope because, Christ’s birth has brought hope to all who sincerely believe in him. This means that there is hope, even in the midst of uncertainties like wars, hunger, oppression, injustice, and even natural disasters.

Today is a day of joy. So, let us sing psalms to the Lord with harp. With the sound of music, let us acclaim Christ our lord and king, who is with us. Merry Christmas!

¡Dios Está Con Nosotros!

“Canten un cántico nuevo al Señor, porque ha hecho maravillas por nosotros. Él ha dado a conocer su salvación.” Hoy es el día de Navidad, el día por lo cual hemos preparado. La Navidad es un hito en la historia de nuestra salvación. Por lo tanto, es maravilloso saber que “Dios está con nosotros”.

Hoy, Dios ha demostrado la profundidad de su amor por nosotros al permitir que su propio hijo ser nacido de una virgen. La palabra de Dios finalmente ha hecho carne. El mensaje central de la celebración de hoy es la encarnación y revelación de Jesucristo.

Nuestra primera lectura de Isaías encuentra su logro en el nacimiento, la vida y el ministerio de Cristo. Isaías proclama: “¡Qué hermoso es ver correr sobre los montes al mensajero que anuncia la paz, al mensajero que trae la buena nueva, que pregona la salvación!”. De hecho, la buena noticia es que Cristo está con nosotros. Es la buena nueva del amor, de la paz, de la caridad, de la esperanza y de la salvación.

El profeta nos llama a celebrar a Emmanuel, Dios con nosotros. Es un llamado a adorar al nuevo rey nacido, y al príncipe de la paz. Es una llamada a ser alegre. Lo más importante, es una llamada a difundir la buena noticia sobre el nacimiento del Mesías.

En nuestra segunda lectura, la carta a los hebreos captura, y presenta lo que Dios hizo para nosotros hoy de una manera espectacular. Dios nos ha cumplido su promesa. Hoy, el misterio oculto de la antigua alianza finalmente, ha sido revelado a través del nacimiento de Cristo. Por lo tanto, la revelación divina ha llegado a su clímax.

El Evangelio de Juan nos da un resumen de lo que sucedió hoy. Es decir, la encarnación divina de Dios: “La palabra se hizo hombre, y habitó entre nosotros. Hemos visto su gloria”. La palabra que estaba con el padre como espíritu, está ahora con nosotros como hombre. Sin perder su naturaleza sagrada o espiritual, ha condescendiente para ser como nosotros.

Lo hizo por tomar carne en una pobre, humilde y dispuesta virgen. Se necesita el amor para hacer esto. Por lo tanto, lo que celebramos hoy es el amor porque: “Dios amó tanto al mundo que envió a su hijo único (Jn 3, 16).

Hoy celebramos el amor. Por lo tanto, debemos estar listos para extender el amor de Dios esta temporada. Esta es una temporada en que debemos estar listos para ofrecernos positivamente en el amor a los demás. Como Cristo ha llegado a nosotros, debemos estar listos a llegar a los demás.

Hoy celebramos el sacrificio. Por lo tanto, también debemos estar dispuestos a sacrificar algo por el bien de nuestros hermanos como lo hizo Cristo. Así, como él bajó del cielo para estar con nosotros, y para mostrarnos el camino, debemos abandonar nuestras zonas cómodas para llegar a los humildes y descuidados de nuestra sociedad.

Hoy celebramos la humildad. Por lo tanto, debemos aprender a ser humildes como Cristo nuestro modelo es. A pesar de ser el rey del universo, se permitió nacer en un pesebre. Hoy celebramos el reinado de la paz. Paz no como el mundo la da, sino como Dios se la da a aquellos que aman y creen en él (Jn 14, 21).

Hoy celebramos la esperanza, porque el nacimiento de Cristo ha traído esperanza a todos los que sinceramente creen en él. Esto significa que hay esperanza, incluso en medio de las incertidumbres como guerras, hambre, opresión, injusticia e incluso desastres naturales.

Hoy es un día de alegría. Así que, cantemos salmos al Señor con arpa. Con el sonido de la música, aclamemos a Cristo, nuestro señor y rey, que está con nosotros. ¡Feliz Navidad!

Ready For The Divine Visitation And Encounter

Last week we celebrated “Gaudete” Sunday when the church encouraged us to rejoice because our Lord is near. On this fourth and last Sunday of Advent, our first reading and gospel have one thing in common.

This is the fact that from the the lowly clan of Judah; and from Mary the lowly handmaid, God has prepared a body for Christ, the prince of Peace. According to our second reading from Hebrew, Christ assures his father: “Here I am! I am coming to do your will” He comes soon in order to fill our hearts with his spirit of peace and joy.

As we gradually approach the fulfillment of God’s promise to us, the gospel of this Sunday presents us with the visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth. In spite of her pregnancy, Mary still found time to visit her cousin in order to share her joy.

Through this, she displayed her hospitality, generosity, humility, and her love. This is why she is blessed. It was not only Mary that visited Elizabeth but also, the Divine Child and Prince of peace did. Hence, this visit was divine.

Also, it is important to note that what happened between the child in Mary’s womb and the child in Elizabeth’s womb was a divine encounter. This is exactly what the psalmist described as: “When love and faithfulness meet, when justice and truth meet; righteousness and peace embrace each other” (Ps 85, 10). Elizabeth and Mary experienced this.

The visit of Mary to Elizabeth was not a mere coincidence. It was a well thought plan of God, which was executed at the appropriate time. This season, God has planned to honor each of us personally with a divine visit.

He knows the way to where we live. He knows the number of our house, and he knows exactly the number of our room. He comes quickly to visit us personally in order to bring transform and make our life better.

This season, what we are about to have is a divine encounter with the child Jesus. This encounter will fill us with the Holy Spirit. He will empower us as he empowered Elizabeth. This divine encounter with Christ will bring us transformation. It will provoke peace and a greater joy in our hearts as it did for Elizabeth and the child in her womb.

Soon and very soon, we shall hear a knock at our door. We shall hear the voice of Mary, the new arc of the covenant with the divine child. They are close to us. So, we must be ready to receive them, so that our joy may be complete this season.

Finally, as we wait for our divine visitation and encounter this season, let us implore the Lord: “God of hosts, bring us back. Let your face shine on us, and we shall be saved.”
