Good evening dear Brothers,

In addition to the measures we have been taking, let us stand firm in prayer in our homes and families because: God is with us! So, in this evening of the Solemnity of St. Joseph, I invite you to join me with a living faith in this powerful prayer of Psalm 46.

Let us pray:

1 God is our refuge and strength,

an ever-present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way

and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam

and the mountains quake with their surging.

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,

the holy place where the Most High dwells.

5 God is within her, she will not fall;

God will help her at break of day.

6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;

he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7 The Lord Almighty is with us;

the God of Jacob is our fortress.

8 Come and see what the Lord has done,

the desolations he has brought on the earth.

9 He makes wars cease

to the ends of the earth.

He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;

he burns the shields[d] with fire.

10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth.”

11 The Lord Almighty is with us;

the God of Jacob is our fortress.

God our Father, listen to our prayer that we present to you, through the powerful intercession of your faithful servant, St. Joseph.

St. Joseph, pray for us! Amen.

Buenas tardes queridos hermanos,

además de las medidas que hemos sido tomando, mantengámonos firmes en oración en nuestros hogares y familias porque: ¡Dios está con nosotros! Así que, en esta vespertina de la Solemnidad de San José, les invito a unirse conmigo con una fe viva en esta oración poderosa del Salmo 46.

Oremos:

1 Dios es nuestro amparo y nuestra fortaleza,

nuestra ayuda segura en momentos de angustia.

2 Por eso, no temeremos

aunque se desmorone la tierra

y las montañas se hundan en el fondo del mar;

3 aunque rujan y se encrespen sus aguas,

y ante su furia retiemblen los montes.

4 Hay un río cuyas corrientes alegran la ciudad de Dios,

la santa habitación del Altísimo.

5 Dios está en ella, la ciudad no caerá;

al rayar el alba Dios le brindará su ayuda.

6 Se agitan las naciones, se tambalean los reinos;

Dios deja oír su voz, y la tierra se derrumba.

7 El Señor Todopoderoso está con nosotros;

nuestro refugio es el Dios de Jacob.

8 Vengan y vean los portentos del Señor;

él ha traído desolación sobre la tierra.

9 Ha puesto fin a las guerras

en todos los confines de la tierra;

ha quebrado los arcos, ha destrozado las lanzas,

ha arrojado los carros al fuego.

10 «Quédense quietos, reconozcan que yo soy Dios.

¡Yo seré exaltado entre las naciones!

¡Yo seré enaltecido en la tierra!»

11 El Señor Todopoderoso está con nosotros;

nuestro refugio es el Dios de Jacob.

The Faithful Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Today the church celebrates the solemnity of a great figure who played a very important role in the history of our salvation by being faithful to his call. He is for us, both a symbol and model of a true Christian father. We do not hear his voice anywhere where in the gospel. Yet, his impact and mission were great.

He was chosen by God to be the foster-father of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Spouse of Our Lady. All of our readings on this this solemnity draw our attention to the enduring nature of the covenant between God and His People.

Today’s first reading is about the Davidic covenant through which God made a promise of a dynasty to David his servant. Most importantly, this was to be fulfilled though his offspring. So, the mission of Joseph was a great one. He participated in salvific mission.

Today’s Gospels (Lk 2:41-51) tells us that Joseph was a “just” man. He gave everything for God’s mission. He gave Mary and Christ his life, his love, his tenderness and his time. He protected them with his strong arms. He was faithful till the end

Sant Joseph was a man with a very resilient spirit, and a firm faith in God. In spite of his difficult mission, he neither complained nor was distressed in the midst of trials and tribulations. He knew how to resolve the difficulties of life with internal calmness and serenity, he did this with complete faith and total submission to God’s will.

Saint Joseph is the patron of all Christian fathers, spouses, priests and seminarians. He is the patron of the universal Church. Above all, is the “Master of Interior Life.” Through his silent lifestyle he teaches us how to love God faithfully, and to love Christ and Our Lady tenderly.

Hoy la iglesia celebra la solemnidad de una gran figura que desempeñó un papel muy importante en la historia de nuestra salvación siendo fiel a su llamada. Es para nosotros, tanto un símbolo y modelo de un verdadero padre cristiano. No oímos su voz en ningún lugar en el evangelio. Sin embargo, su impacto y misión fueron grandes.

Fue elegido por Dios para ser el padre adoptivo de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y el Esposo de la Santísima Virgen María. Todas las lecturas de esta solemnidad llaman nuestra atención a la naturaleza durable de la alianza entre Dios y Su pueblo.

La primera lectura de hoy se trata de la alianza de Dios con David, a través de la cual, Dios hizo una promesa de una dinastía a David. Lo más importante es que esto iba a cumplirse a través de su descendencia. Por lo tanto, la misión de José era grande. Participó en la misión salvífica.

El evangelio de hoy (Lc 2:41-51) nos dice que José era un hombre “justo”. El dio todo para la misión de Dios. Dio a María, y a Cristo su vida, su amor, su ternura y su tiempo. Los protegió con sus fuertes brazos. Fue fiel hasta el final.

¿Qué aprendemos de San José hoy? Era un hombre con un espíritu resistente, y una firme fe en Dios. A pesar de su difícil misión, nunca se quejó, ni se angustió en medio de pruebas y tribulaciones como la estamos pasando ahora mismo. Sabía como resolver las dificultades de la vida con calma y serenidad interna, y lo hizo con fe, y sumisión total a la voluntad de Dios.

San José es el patrón de todos los padres, sacerdotes y seminaristas. Es el patrono de la Iglesia universal. Sobre todo, es el “Maestro de la Vida Interior”. A través de su estilo de vida silenciosa, nos enseña cómo amar fielmente a Dios, a Cristo y a la Virgen con ternura.

Good evening brothers and sisters in Christ,

In the presence of the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar the place of abundant blessings and grace, let us continue our Lenten reflection.

Today’s Gospel (Mt 5:17-19) teaches us how to observe the law of God in its fullness. Jesus Himself was accused of infidelity to God’s Law. So, He responded to his critics who say to him: “You are unfaithful to the Law of Moses.”

Like in the early Christian communities, today, in some of our Christian communities, there exist many different tendencies. Unfortunately, some Christians think it is not necessary to observe the laws of the Old Testament – the Ten Commandments, or even the teachings of the Church, or the laws of our country.

Some of us even consciously violate the natural law through which God governs and sustain our universe. For some, they are archaic, out dated, old fashioned, rigid and in our modern parlance, old school. All these tendencies are based on the believe that we are saved only by faith without good works, or the Law (Rom 3:21-26).

Dear brethren, the truth is that, any time we consciously violate God’s law, the consequences are always enormous. Christ knew the importance and functions of Law, so instead of abolishing or violating them, he made conscious efforts to fulfill them. Today, He wants us to do the same.

So, as we continue our journey this lent, and especially, in this perilous and dangerous times, let us reevaluate our attitude towards the commandments of God. Let us ask him to forgive us for the many times we have flagrantly disobeyed his commandments.

Buenas tardes hermanos en Cristo,

En la presencia del Santísimo Sacramento del Altar, el lugar de abundantes bendiciones y gracia, continuemos nuestra reflexión cuaresmal.

En el evangelio de hoy (Mt 5:17-19), Cristo nos enseña cómo observar la ley de Dios en su plenitud. Jesús mismo fue acusado de infidelidad a la Ley de Dios. Así que respondió a sus críticos que le dijeron: “Eres infiel a la Ley de Moisés”.

Como en las primeras comunidades cristianas, hoy en día, en algunas de nuestras comunidades cristianas, existen muchas tendencias diferentes. Por desgracia, algunos cristianos piensan que no es necesario observar las leyes del Antiguo Testamento – los Diez Mandamientos, o incluso las enseñanzas de la Iglesia o incluso la ley de nuestro pais.

Algunos de nosotros aun violan conscientemente la ley natural a través de la cual Dios gobierna y sostiene nuestro universo. Para algunos, son arcaicos, anticuados, rígidos y en nuestro lenguaje moderno, “la vieja escuela.” Todas estas tendencias se basan en la creencia de que “somos salvados solo por la fe, sin buenas obras o la ley (Rom 3:21-26).

Queridos hermanos, la verdad es que, cada vez que violamos conscientemente la ley de Dios, las consecuencias siempre son enormes y graves. Cristo sabía la importancia y las funciones de la Ley, así que, en lugar de abolirlas o violarlas, hizo esfuerzos conscientes para cumplirlas. Hoy él quiere que hagamos lo mismo.

Así que, a medida que continuamos nuestro camino este Cuaresma, y especialmente, en este tiempo peligroso, reevaluémonos nuestra actitud hacia los mandamientos de Dios. Le pidamos que nos perdone por muchas veces que hemos desobedecido flagrantemente sus mandamientos.

Good evening brothers and sisters in Christ,

I hope we are all doing fine? I continue in prayer for you and for all mankind in this time of many inconveniences and uncertainties. More importantly, in this time of Lent in which everyone seems confused and in which everything seems hopeless. Brethren, we must move forward without losing faith!

Although many cement buildings in many churches and temples of worship are closed, and liturgical activities suspended for the sake of COVID – 19, and for what seems like good reasons, there is a church and temple within each of us that cannot be closed. There is a temple in every person, heart, and home where God dwells. So, what this time calls us and demands us to do from this moment on, is to open that temple or church built by the hands of God and begin to communicate with God.

The Lenten period is a time of strong prayer, a time of sacrifice and a time of conversion. Who knows if that is why, that God allows us to go through this moment? That is, so that we can deepen our relationship with him, and so that we can deepen our f prayer life. So, instead of staying at home thinking and asking why we have been afflicted like Naaman the leper in the first reading today, go on your knees right now, with eyes and heart fixed on God. Present all your concerns and this moment of world-wide affliction to God. Invite him to take control of everything.

I believe that our prayer will reach heaven from the temple of our hearts and homes. And, God will do what he knows how to always do. Brethren, do not live like hopeless people. Strong moments like the one we live in right now need strong Christians; people who are fervent in prayers, and who can endure as Christ our Lord endured. This is a time to show who we are – true sons of God!

So, let us continue in prayers. I will stand here before Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament until God listens to us and delivers us from our afflictions. You my brother, sister, friend, fellow priest, open that temple in your heart and do the same.

Buenas tardes hermanos en Cristo,

¿Espero que estamos bien? Yo sigo en oración por ustedes y por toda la humanidad en este tiempo de muchas molestias e incertidumbres. Y más importantes, en este tiempo de Cuaresma en lo que todo mundo parece confundido, y en lo que todo parece sin esperanza. ¡Hermanos, hay que seguir para adelante sin perder la fe!

Aunque muchos edificios de cemento de muchas iglesias y templos de cultos están cerrados y actividades litúrgicas suspendidas por la causa de COVID – 19, y por lo que parece buenas razones, hay una iglesia y templo dentro de cada uno de nosotros que no se puede cerrar. Hay un templo en cada persona, corazón y hogar donde Dios habita. Así que, lo que este tiempo nos llama y exige a hacer a partir de este momento es abrir ese templo o iglesia construida por las manos de Dios y empezar a comunicar con Dios.

El tiempo de Cuaresma es un tiempo de una fuerte oración, un tiempo de sacrifico y un tiempo de conversión. ¿Quién sabe si es por eso, que Dios no dejo a pasar por este momento?  Es decir, para que podamos profundizar nuestra relación con él y para que podemos profundizar nuestra vida de oración. Así que, en lugar de quedarse en su casa o hogar pensando y preguntado porque hemos sido afligido como Naamán en la primera lectura de hoy, váyase de rodilla con ojos y corazón fijos en Dios. Preséntele todas sus preocupaciones y este momento de aflicción en mundo entero. invítele, a tomar control de todo.

Yo Creo que nuestra oración llegará al cielo desde el templo de nuestro corazón y lugares. Y, Dios hará lo que él sabe cómo hacer siempre. No viven hermanos como una gente sin esperanza. Momentos fuertes como lo que vivimos ahora mismo necesitan cristianos y personas fuertes, orantes y que pueden aguantar como Cristo nuestro Señor aguantó. Este es un momento de demostrar quienes somos – ¡Hijos verdadero de Dios!

Así que seguimos en oración. Y, yo quedare acá delante del Jesucristo en el Santísimo Sacramento hasta que Dios nos escucha y libra de nuestra aflicción. Y, tú abre ese templo en tu corazón y haga lo mismo.

Perdonémonos Unos a los Otros como Dios nos perdona Siempre

Queridos Hermanos,

Como prometí, ayer, seguiré permaneciendo aquí en la presencia del Santísimo Sacramento en oraciones hasta que sucede algo maravilloso. Y más importante, los bendeciré cada día con el Santísimo Sacramento.

Al continuar nuestro camino en este tiempo cuaresmal, el Evangelio de hoy (Mt 18:21-22) nos habla de la necesidad de perdón. Por mi propia experiencia personal, sé que no es fácil perdonar. Esto se debe a que un cierto dolor sigue ardiendo en el corazón como el ácido. Cuanto más lo cargamos, más, nos hace daño.

Hay gente que dice: “¡Perdono, pero no lo olvido!” Rancor, tensiones, opiniones diversas, insultos, ofensas, provocaciones, todo hace que el perdón y la reconciliación sean difíciles. Lamentablemente, la incapacidad de perdonar duele a uno más.

Pedro pregunto a Cristo: “¿Con qué frecuencia debo perdonar a mi hermano si me hace daño? ¿Tan a menudo como siete veces?” Jesús le respondió: “¡No siete, te digo, sino setenta y siete veces!” El número siete indica la perfección. En este caso, era sinónimo de siempre. Es decir, setenta veces siempre. Por lo tanto, esto significa simplemente que no hay proporción entre el perdón que recibimos de Dios y el perdón que debemos ofrecer a los demás.

Así que, este tiempo de Cuaresma, vengámonos a Dios con humildad con todas las cargas que soportamos en nuestros corazones unos contra otros. Vamos a cargarlos ante Cristo y marchámanos feliz y con alegría. Sigamos pidiendo a Dios que nos sane de las heridas que hemos sufrido por el dolor que otros nos han hecho y debido a nuestro corazón implacable.

¡Paz con Ustedes!

Let’s Forgive Each Other as God Forgives Us Always

Readings: 1st: Dan 3:25. 34-43; Ps: 24; Gos: Mt 18, 21-35

Greeting brothers and Sisters,

As I promised you yesterday, I will continue to remain here in the presence of the blessed Sacrament in prayers until something great happens. And most important, I will bless you each day with the Most Holy Sacrament until the doors of our churches are opened.

As we continue our journey this Lenten season, today’s Gospel (Mt 18:21-22) speaks to us about the need for pardon or forgiveness. From my own personal experience, I know that it is not easy to forgive. This is because, certain grief and pain continue to burn in the heart like acid. The more we harbor them they more they hurt us

There are people who say, “I forgive, but I do not forget!” Rancor, tensions, diverse opinions, insults, offenses, provocations, all renders pardon and reconciliation difficult. Unfortunately, the inability to forgive hurts one more.

Peter asks, “How often should I forgive my brother if he wrongs me? As often as seven times?” Jesus answered him: “Not seven, I tell you, but seventy-seven times!” The number seven indicates perfection. In this case, it was synonymous with always. That is, seventy times always! So, this simply means that, there is no proportion between the pardon which we receive from God and the pardon which we should offer to others.

So, this season of Lent, let us come to God in humility with all the burdens we bear in our hearts against one another. Let us off load them before Christ and walk away joyfully. Let us continue to as God to heal us of the injuries we have sustained from the hurt others have done us, and due to our unforgiving heart.
